2023 OH5 Dance Conference

Posted on February 27, 2023

More than 60 students and faculty from the Five Colleges of Ohio (Denison University, Kenyon College, Oberlin College, Ohio Wesleyan University, and The College of Wooster) came together for a day of dance workshops and performances on Saturday, February 11, 2023.  The program, known as The Ohio Five Dance Conference, has created an environment for students and faculty to share their work, exchange ideas, and become acquainted as colleagues through their mutual appreciation for dancing.

This year’s conference was planned and hosted by The College of Wooster.  The workshop lineup featured six dance styles: modern, salsa, Afro-house, postmodern, Thai-fusion, and Samba.  Each student was able to participate in up to two workshops during the day.  After the workshop hours, participants joined together for an informal showing of independent studies, formal productions, and group improvisations.  Nancy Nguyen ‘26, an international student from Vietnam who participated in the event expressed, “I enjoyed how the event provided attendees with a variety of dance lessons to pick from [..] I like the atmosphere in both courses I joined; they were very energetic!”

Lindsey Interlante, Ohio Five Executive Director, commented, “Ohio Five is thrilled to support the annual Dance Conference.  This year’s event allowed our students to meaningfully connect with peers across the Ohio Five and created space for faculty to share ideas and explore possible collaborations.”
