Delete Item Locations from Sierra

  • Remove the location from the Branches Table

    • Admin > Parameters > General > Branches

    • Highlight the location code, click the Delete icon, then click Close.

 

  • Remove the location from the Rules For Requesting table

    • Select ASAA under the Function dropdown menu

    • Find Rules for Requesting under the Select file dropdown menu, and click Select.

    • Review the entries for the item location to be removed and, if found, delete the entry.

 

  • Review the Loan Rule Determiner table and the Loan Rules table

    • Admin > Parameters > Circulation > Loan Rule Determiner

    • If the item location you’re deleting is listed in the Loan Rule Determiner table, make a note of the Loan Rule Number.

    • Sort the Loan Rule Determiner table by the Rule Number to determine if the loan rule is associated with other item locations.

    • If the item location you’re deleting is the only item location associated with the loan rule, you’ll need to change the Loan Rule to “unused” in the Loan Rules Table.

    • If the Loan Rule Number is associated with other item locations that aren’t being deleted, do not make any changes to the Loan Rules Table.

 

  • Change relevant lines to “unused” in the Loan Rules table

    • [DO NOT DELETE OR REORDER!]

    • Admin > Parameters > Circulation > Loan Rules

    • Highlight the rule and click the Edit icon.  

    • Change the name to “unused”.

 

  • Remove the item location from the Loan Rule Determiner table.

    • Once you’ve made the appropriate changes to the Loan Rule table (if any), remove the item location from the Loan Rule Determiner Table.

    • Admin > Parameters > Circulation > Loan Rule Determiner

    • Highlight the entry for the item location and click Delete.

 

  • Remove relevant lines from the Hours Open table

    • Admin > Parameters > Circulation > Hours Open

    • Highlight line(s) with the item location, click Delete, click Save, then click Close.

    • Changes here would only apply to entire facilities. This will not likely need to be changed.

 

  • Remove relevant lines from the Days Closed table

    • Admin > Parameters > Circulation > Days Closed

    • Highlight line(s) with the item location, click Delete, click Save, then click Close.

    • Changes here would only apply to entire facilities. This will not likely need to be changed.

 

  • Remove location from the Statistical Group Maintenance table

    • Admin > Parameters > Circulation > Statistical Group Maintenance

    • Changes here would only apply to entire facilities. This will not likely need to be changed.

 

  • Delete location from any default record templates

 

  • Delete location from the Locations Served table

    • Admin Corner>Additional system functions>Alter system parameters>Circulation parameters>Locations Served

    • Review any Locations Served that could be associated with the item location

    • Once you find the item location, enter “+” to get the second page of commands

    • Enter “D” to DELETE an entry, and enter the item location number

    • Enter “Q” to quit and save changes

    • Select “Y” to make changes permanent

 

  • Delete location from Location Mapping table

    • Admin Corner>Additional system functions>Maintain record links>Update locations in bibliographic records>Examine location mapping table

    • Select the number of the bib location(s) that contain(s) the item location to be deleted

    • Enter "D" to DELETE a location

    • Enter the item location number

 

  • Open a ticket with Innovative through the Supportal

    • Under the Help Desk, click Add New Ticket.

    • From the dropdown menu, select Five Colleges of Ohio.

    • Enter any additional email recipients to get updates on the ticket.

    • Add a Ticket Title (e.g. Delete “kcurp” item location).

    • Enter a Full Description, requesting that the item location is removed from the scope for the institution, and from any other INN-Reach Agency tables. (e.g. I'd like to request assistance in deleting the location code, "kcurp". We need to have this code deleted from the scope for Kenyon College, and from any other Inn-Reach Agency tables.)

    • Select an Urgency (defaults to Medium).

    • Under Product Selection, select

      • Sierra

      • WebPac

      • Scoping

    • Click Submit.
