How to load MARC records for Films on Demand

Films on Demand

  • Login to Films on Demand at http://admin.films.com/ with the following:

    • Username: XXXXXX

    • Password: XXXXXX

  • Click on Title Data > MARC Records

  • Click Generate New Records to create a file that includes all records since the last download. It will appear in the table below with the current date a “Not Downloaded” status.

  • Download the file.

New records:

  • Open file in MarcEdit.

  • Go to Tools > Current Tasks > Films on Demand (This will update the 856$z, add 856$x fields, and add a 949$l field for the Kenyon item. *** See the MarcEdit task details below.)

  • Go to Tools > Add/Delete Field. In the new window, type 910 in the field box, and in the data field, add a note that reflects the current date (e.g. $afod-20180521). Check the insert last box, and click Add Field.

  • Save file and compile to MARC using UTF-8 as the Save as type.

  • Select Process = Load records via locally created load profiles (local)

  • Click Get PC

    • Browse desktop to select the MARC file

    • Upload

    • When prompted to rename, remove the .mrc extension and select the .lfts extension from the dropdown menu

    • Click OK

  • Click Start

  • Select the .lmarc file and click Load

  • Select LOAD a SVIDEO file

  • Check the “video” load profile for the following:

    • ov_action=“d” (so item records aren’t created for overlays)

    • #com=“dflt”@dflt=“kensv,conrei” (so kenyon bib is created)

    • 001 = as is

    • 856 = no proxy

    • Uncomment this line if loading new records:

      • |||0|0| | |0|n|G|0|@link="i:1:949"

  • Click Test. Usually, these are new records. OhioLINK will usually indicate if these are overlays with any other records.

  • Click Load

  • Spot check a few of the records in both staff and public displays

  • It’ll ask if you want to remove the file being copied from. Click Yes.

  • Go to Global Update
