The Ohio Five
ViewPoints Project

The Ohio Five ViewPoints Series is a collaborative multimedia project originally conceived by J. Eduardo Jaramillo Zuluaga of Denison University, and  created by language faculty from the Five Colleges of Ohio. The main purpose of the project is to develop multimedia materials for language courses for which commercial products are not available. This includes (but is not limited to) all courses offered in the less commonly taught languages and intermediate and advanced level courses taught in French, German, and Spanish.

It consists of a series of CD-ROMs and Web sites. Students will find a collection of video-clips in which native speakers elaborate on a variety of topics. These topics are directly related to the chapters of the textbook or to units included in the syllabi by the instructor. To facilitate its comprehension, the video-clips are accompanied by a descriptive text, vocabulary, listening comprehension questions, or other materials that the instructors find important to the better understanding of the video-clip. The students answer open-ended questions, multiple choice questions, or fill-in-the-blank exercises.

ViewPoints projects have been created for the following languages:  Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, and Swahili.  For more information on these projects (author, date, where to access) go to the Projects page.

Many of the video clips of ViewPoints interviews are available through OhioLINK's Digital Media Center, in the Foreign Language Videos database.  To access, go to:
