Over 100 students and faculty from the Five Colleges of Ohio—Denison University, Kenyon College, Oberlin College, Ohio Wesleyan University, and The College of Wooster—gathered on Saturday, February 24, 2024, for the annual Ohio Five Dance Conference. This event offered a day filled with dance workshops and performances, providing a vibrant platform for OH5 students and faculty to exchange ideas, showcase their talents, and build camaraderie as both colleagues and artists, celebrating their shared passion for dance and artistry.
Denison University hosted the 2024 conference, which centered around the theme "What grounds you?" This theme encouraged participants to reflect on this concept in both their dance routines and daily lives. The event included special performances by the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, a student showcase, and a variety of movement workshops led by OH5 faculty, providing a broad spectrum of dance experiences.
Participants highlighted several favorite experiences from the event, including forming new connections through dance, enjoying positive interactions during floorwork, engaging in partner-work dynamics, and appreciating the liberating aspects of contemporary dance workshops.
